New Gear!!! & Roadmarches!!!!

Shortly after we got here we
were issued our IBA's
(Improvised Body Armor). Our
1LT thought that it would be fun
to take a three mile road march
in them so we could start getting
used to them. It wasn't so bad
except that it rained the entire
road march.

Big Guns, Little Guns & All the Guns Inbetween!!!!!

9mm Handgun: The 9mm is the sidearm that we carry around on our hip. It is the smallest of all the weapons that we will have with us while we are in Iraq. When we were at this range we had to hit 17 out of 30 targets to qualify. I belive I hit 21 out of 30 if I remember right.

<---Just a bunch of us hanging
out under the tent at the
9mm range waiting for them
to call up our firing order.

Me getting ready to go fire.
Just double checking that
I have all my protective
equipment on(IBA, Kevlar,
Gloves, Eye & Ear Protection). --->

Me on the firing line
shooting at the pop up targets.

and SPC Thomas giving

Angels pose with thier 9mm.

From KEVIN
Ty glad to hear you get to come home for a while. Will be interested to hear more about everything you have to do.
Its funny to think of the whole military life. I know I'm not the only one who wonders what it would be like to be there in person and if you were how a person would handle it all. We are all proud of you. KEVIN

Nebraska City. (Hope I understood that correctly.) That's where my parents met and married 50+ years ago, and I spent many great days as a kid visiting my grandparents (on my dad's side).

Hope you guys are eating better than MREs now. Have a great time with family for Turkey Day. And always stay safe.

Oops. Somehow the first part of my message disappeared. Here's what I meant to say.

Hi,Ty (and Anne). Great to get the updates and hear that Ty gets to come home to NE for Thanksgiving!

Doesn't sound like you had much fun in the rain, Ty. But I'd take that over temps in the 20s in Cincinnati tomorrow morning. Too early to have to have scrape the ice off the windows . . .

A shout out to SPC Haverty from Nebraska City. (Hope I understood that correctly.) That's where my parents met and married 50+ years ago, and I spent many great days as a kid visiting my grandparents (on my dad's side).

Hope you guys are eating better than MREs now. Have a great time with family for Turkey Day. And always stay safe.
